This year’s Winter candle has been two years in the making and with it comes the discovery of a totally cocooning and warming scent that transports me to someplace quite magical.
It’s inception began with Palo Santo – The Holy Wood, a tree of South American origin. It is one of my favourite ingredients; I use it a lot in the lab and in clinic and love the effect that it has in enabling even the busiest of minds to relax and completely let go. It is warming and comforting and comes from the same botanical family as Frankincense and Myrrh, although it is a unique and creamy wood with nuances of citrus and soft spice - fruity and a little sweet. To that, I’ve added cleansing Clary Sage, calming Lavender and earthy Frankincense, Cedarwood, Patchouli. I truly couldn’t be more thrilled with it and have been burning it in every corner of the house - just to test it for you! Cosseting, comforting and the olfactory equivalent of being wrapped in a cashmere blanket… what could be better than that?
Finally, Razia, a wonderful artisan potter, has spent months making our new pots and puts the same care and attention into her process as we do ours, each individually numbered with a beautiful lid.
de Mamiel candles are made with a 100% natural soy wax with 2 cotton wicks - one just wasn't enough! They will come with a set of matches already gift wrapped for someone special. In my enthusiasm, I have made the Winter candle much bigger than I would normally, to last through those long winter days.
